The House of Representatives will now consider the proposal, and members on both sides of the aisle are ready to act. The lower house voted to overturn the 2002 permit in 2021, when Democrats had control of the House of Representatives, but the Senate never took anything. At the time, 49 Republicans joined almost all Democrats to vote to repeal.
