Preston 0 – 3 Tottenham

Appearing in the absence of Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son scored two fierce goals to help Tottenham progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win at Preston.

The striker had scored just one goal in his previous 17 games for club and country but five minutes into the second half he unleashed a beauty from long range and then blasted another (69) home from the box to shatter the hopes of the Sustaining Spurs to a definitive end to what is now a 15-year trophy drought.

The victory was crowned late by a goal from debutant Arnaut Danjuma (87), who made his first appearance from Villarreal on loan a memorable one with a quick look in goal.

Antonio Conte’s side had lacked quality in the first half against their well-organized hosts when a block from Ryan Ledson saved Dejan Kulusevski and Freddie Woodman twice from Son in a rain-soaked, atmospheric Deepdale.

But the Korean’s magic moment just after the break converted the tie and his second almost ended it.

It also meant Conte Kane could wrap up uncomfortably on the bench and with her name now in the hat for Monday’s draw, Spurs can turn their attention to next Sunday’s big Premier League clash with Manchester City, which will be broadcast live Sky Sports. The fifth round of the FA Cup takes place in the week beginning February 27th.

How Son found his magic to sink Preston

Spurs controlled possession in the early stages with 73 percent possession, but not for the first time this season, it was another frustrating first half for their supporters.

Team News

  • Harry Kane was on the bench following an illness and new signing Arnaut Danjuma was also among the substitutes for Spurs. Antonio Conte made seven changes for the cup game with a completely fresh defense in front of substitute goalkeeper Fraser Forster.
  • Preston made two changes, with Ben Whiteman returning from injury and Ched Evans for Liam Delap, who is tied in the cup. Ben Woodburn fell on the bench and Troy Parrott, on loan from Spurs, was ineligible to play against his parent club.

They only applied sporadic pressure and after Ledson’s final block denied Kulusevski an early opener, Son was alert at Woodman as he hit the target.

Preston’s first shot of the game came after 21 minutes and saw Perisic get in the way of Andrew Hughes’ volley from a well-crafted free-kick, but while he wasn’t unduly threatened defensively, wayward crosses came from Spurs full-backs Matt Doherty and Ryan Sessegnon at the end of the half rather summed up the guests’ lack of sharpness.

It felt like a change was needed – but instead of introducing Kane, Spurs supporters were gifted the rejuvenation of Son, with his contender for the round’s goal serving as a reminder of his class.

Curiously, the strike instead seemed to electrify Preston, with Whiteman firing wide as the home side roared forward, but that left gaps at the back and after Woodman had to tip over a header from Perisic, the Croatian flicked the ball through for Son by swinging and firing for his second in the box.

There was no going back for Preston then and Conte had the luxury of making a number of changes when former Bournemouth man Danjuma came on for his Spurs debut.

Twice he was frustrated with intercepted passes when he looked like he would be brought in but eventually he was able to sweep home Kulusevski’s low cross to make it an ideal start to life in England and improve Conte’s attacking options.

Muay Thai phenomenon Tawanchai PK Saenchai bets on beating Superlek daniel williams, but not without a fight.

This Friday, kickboxing division king Superlek Kiatmoo9 will go head-to-head with Danial Williams at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video instead of Rodtang Jitumuangnon. While the news comes as a shock, a showdown between Superlek and Williams is the next best thing.

Muay Thai bantamweight king Tawanchai PK Saenchai is excited to see how the two forwards will match up this Friday as they have both shown great performances in the past. In this case, however, he leans into his friend to beat Danial Williams, but not without some sort of challenge. Speaking to ONE Championship, the 23-year-old star predicted:

“I personally like Daniel. He’s a tough fighter. He has a strong heart and heavy weapons. But I think Superlek is superior to him in terms of experience and physical advantages. His right kick is deadly. I think Superlek will win this fight but maybe not KO because Danial is the tough one.

Williams enter the kickboxing scene with nothing to lose and everything to gain. He was originally set to face Portuguese forward Rui Bolteho in a muay thai strawweight bout before being asked to step in as Rodtang’s replacement just days ago. Though he goes into the foray with a list of disadvantages, he’s willing to put in the work for a shot at winning a world title.

Daniel Williams tells Superlek he’s coming for the win

‘mini T’ Daniel Williams enjoying the short time he has to sink Superleks Skin before they meet in circle this Friday.

Williams is coming off a 5-month hiatus after suffering a devastating TKO loss to Jeremy Miado at ONE last year on Prime Video 3. Before his loss, “Mini-T” had a string of wins in MMA to establish himself among the most dangerous forwards in his division.

He is known for his aggressive, high-volume fighting style that could cause a lot of trouble for Superlek who likes to fight at his own pace. To prove he’s not afraid of Superlek, Williams sent the Pattaya-bred fighter the following message on Instagram:

“The pressure is on you, not on me at all. I will give you an absolute war. I know you guys wanted to see the Rodtang Superlek, so I will make this trail more exciting. I come for the win, this belt is mine.”
