NHL best bets today (Islanders have no bite without Sorokin)

Another night, another 3-0 win in the NHL.

Hot streaks don’t happen without a little luck, and we certainly got some last night. The Panthers scored with 34 seconds left to tie the Kings 3-3 and cashed the OVER bet for us. Then the Devils came back from a 2-0 deficit to level the game and eventually beat the Stars in overtime.

Let’s hope Gamblor the Gambling God is back on our side tonight.

Let’s dive into my top three bets for tonight.

The NHL’s best bets to date

NHL best bets today

  • Kings/Flashes OVER 6 (-110)
  • Canadians/Senators UNDER 6.5 (-118)
  • Golden Knights -110 vs Islanders

Kings/Flashes OVER 6 (-110)

The Los Angeles Kings are in the second half of a duel which means they will likely play Jonathan Quick at the net tonight. Expect a lot of goals tonight based on that fact alone. Quick absolutely stank this year, with goals against the 3.34 average and an .884 save percentage.

Things will get worse for him tonight when he faces a blitz team that has scored 3.9 goals in their last 10 games, the third-best mark in the NHL at that stretch. That being said, Tampa Bay wasn’t exactly strong defensively, ranking 23rd in expected goals conceded over the same stretch.

I think that sets the stage for a lot of goals tonight and I’ll jump to the total when it’s settled at six.

Canadians/Senators UNDER 6.5 (-118)

In their last 10 games, the Canadiens and Senators combined have averaged 5.08 goals per game. I don’t really understand why the total is fixed at 6.5 in this game.

The Senators haven’t been able to shoot into the sea from a boat lately as they have a 7.08 shot rating at the same stretch, and now they face Sam Montembeault, who has a .918 save rating across nine stats in January.

The Canadians’ offensive problems are not only due to their shooting qualities. For them, it’s all about utter inefficiency on offense. Their expected goals per game in their last 10 competitions is 2.7, the fifth lowest in the NHL over that stretch.

Golden Knights -110 vs Islanders

The islanders are all defensive and not offensive. Or should I say all goalies and no offense. In their last 10 games, they’ve only scored 1.67 goals per game, easily the lowest mark in the NHL. Thankfully, they only conceded 2.76 goals per game, but they have Ilya Sorokin to thank for that. Your expected goals conceded per game is 3.5.

But now Sorokin is probably on the bench after making 23 saves against the Red Wings last night. Semyon Varlamov will take his place, and while he’s a more than capable replacement, he’s no Sorokin.

I absolutely cannot trust them at a pick ’em spot without Sorokin. I’ll take the Golden Knights, which are set to emerge from a three-game crisis.

Luxembourg are unbeaten in their five games before UEFA EURO qualifiers. However, they have only won once and drawn four times. They also kept two clean sheets in this run. They have also scored 8 goals and conceded 7 goals in this run, which sets them up for a good start to their Euro qualifying campaign.

The last 5 competitive games for Portugal were at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they won three times and lost twice. One of the defeats came in the quarterfinals against Morocco, where they defeated 1-0 to be eliminated from the tournament. They will try to get a good start in their Euro qualification process.

Muay Thai phenomenon Tawanchai PK Saenchai bets on beating Superlek daniel williams, but not without a fight.

This Friday, kickboxing division king Superlek Kiatmoo9 will go head-to-head with Danial Williams at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video instead of Rodtang Jitumuangnon. While the news comes as a shock, a showdown between Superlek and Williams is the next best thing.

Muay Thai bantamweight king Tawanchai PK Saenchai is excited to see how the two forwards will match up this Friday as they have both shown great performances in the past. In this case, however, he leans into his friend to beat Danial Williams, but not without some sort of challenge. Speaking to ONE Championship, the 23-year-old star predicted:

“I personally like Daniel. He’s a tough fighter. He has a strong heart and heavy weapons. But I think Superlek is superior to him in terms of experience and physical advantages. His right kick is deadly. I think Superlek will win this fight but maybe not KO because Danial is the tough one.

Williams enter the kickboxing scene with nothing to lose and everything to gain. He was originally set to face Portuguese forward Rui Bolteho in a muay thai strawweight bout before being asked to step in as Rodtang’s replacement just days ago. Though he goes into the foray with a list of disadvantages, he’s willing to put in the work for a shot at winning a world title.

Fans in North America can watch ONE Fight Night 8: Superlek vs. Williams live and for free via Amazon Prime Video.

Daniel Williams tells Superlek he’s coming for the win

‘mini T’ Daniel Williams enjoying the short time he has to sink Superleks Skin before they meet in circle this Friday.

Williams is coming off a 5-month hiatus after suffering a devastating TKO loss to Jeremy Miado at ONE last year on Prime Video 3. Before his loss, “Mini-T” had a string of wins in MMA to establish himself among the most dangerous forwards in his division.

He is known for his aggressive, high-volume fighting style that could cause a lot of trouble for Superlek who likes to fight at his own pace. To prove he’s not afraid of Superlek, Williams sent the Pattaya-bred fighter the following message on Instagram:

“The pressure is on you, not on me at all. I will give you an absolute war. I know you guys wanted to see the Rodtang Superlek, so I will make this trail more exciting. I come for the win, this belt is mine.”
