NBA All-Star starter Luka Doncic played just three minutes in the Dallas Mavericks’ 99-95 win over the Phoenix Suns two nights ago. He will be wearing street gear for tonight’s matchup against the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.
“Luka Legend” has been largely healthy this season, missing just five of the Mavericks’ 50 games. He’ll miss his sixth if they take on the jazz.
Before the unfortunate injury, Doncic has played without a light this season. He averages a career-high 33.0 points, the second best in the NBA, with 8.9 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.5 steals. Doncic was the only player with an average of at least 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists this season.
Despite their incredible performances, Dallas is only 3-7 in their last 10 games, which drops them to sixth place in the Western Conference.
Josh Green is expected to see more minutes tonight while Doncic watches from the sidelines.
What is Luka Doncic’s status for tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz?
Luka Doncic has been officially ruled out by the Dallas Mavericks after spraining his left ankle. He suffered the injury barely three minutes into the game against the Phoenix Suns. It was the first time in the Slovenian’s career that he didn’t score in an NBA game.
Mavericks fans were initially concerned that the now four-time NBA All-Star had suffered more than one sprained ankle. His status in the future will be day by day, meaning the injury is not as serious as many thought.
Dallas is in a hotly contested battle for a place in the playoffs. Losing Doncic for any length of time would have been a major blow to their post-season aspirations.
When will Luka Doncic return?
the Dallas Mavericks haven’t set a concrete timeline for Luka Doncic’s return. At least he’ll miss a few more games as the team wants him to be fully healthy. They cannot afford to let him play despite being injured as it could endanger them later.
Doncic’s everyday condition gives hope that he will be back sooner than originally expected. He had a bad limp walking into the dressing room during the Suns game. “Luka Legend” could be available next week.
Dallas will surely struggle while they wait for their leader to get back on their feet. You must replace its production with committee. Spencer Dinwiddie carried the team on the road against the Suns, which bodes well for someone to step up.
Jason Kidd will need everyone on his team to do a little more work while “Luka Magic” recovers from a sprained ankle.
